Bio: Mark Micchelli is a pianist, composer, improvisor, technologist, scholar, and educator based in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a recipient of the 2023 SMT Emerging Scholar Award for his Music Theory Online article “Sound Structures and Naked Fire Gestures in Cecil Taylor's Solo Piano Music.” In 2024, Mark earned his PhD in Jazz Studies and Composition/Theory from the University of Pittsburgh.
