Bio: Aaron D’Zurilla is a PhD student in Music Theory at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and holds a Masters in Music Theory from Florida State University. As a music theorist, Aaron researches topics relating to rap, hip-hop culture, and 21st century music. With presentations at multiple regional and national conferences, previous work includes transformational and formal analyses in modern rap, a musicological study on the history of conscious rap, discussions of intersectional genres in hip-hop, and the analysis of aggregate set class networks in modern compositions.
