Bio: Brandon Scribner is a PhD student at Florida State University, where they currently teach music theory courses as part of an assistantship. They received a Master’s in Music Theory from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Towson University. Brandon’s primary research interests include ludomusicology, music theory pedagogy, and functional and modal harmony in popular music. Their most recent projects include developing the “Encounter” topic within the Pokémon video game series, tracing musical narratives in Metaphor: ReFantazio, and a forthcoming podcast episode on gender in Laura Kaminsky’s opera As One.
